Adopt a Dog, Save a Life

At Blue Sky Satos we rescue dogs (Satos) off the streets of Puerto Rico, they are then flown to Colorado to find their forever homes. Adopting a dog is one of the most meaningful ways to make a difference for animals in need. When you adopt, you’re not just giving a dog a loving home you are opening space for us to rescue another dog in desperate need.

Sato dogs are homeless dogs rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico, they are typically a mix or many different breeds. They are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and gentle hearts, making them wonderful family members and lifelong companions, ready to fill your home with love and joy.

All dogs/puppies are up to date on vaccinations, are spayed/neutered and have a microchip.

Cost

Puppy: $400

Adult (over 1 year old): $300

This adoption fee helps cover the costs of medical services and transport

Find Your Match

Browse our available dogs to find the one that feels like the perfect addition to your family. Once you’ve found a dog you’re interested in, submit an adoption application to provide us with more details about you and your household.

Application Review

We review applications carefully to ensure a great match for both you and the dog. As part of the process, we typically ask for one or two references to learn more about your experience with pets.

Meet & Greet

If it seems like a potential fit, we’ll schedule a meet & greet with you and your family, giving you the chance to get to know the dog in person and see if the connection feels right.

Foster to Adopt

If all goes well, we often suggest a “foster to adopt” arrangement. You’ll foster the dog for 1–2 weeks to ensure they’re a great fit for your family and lifestyle. This trial period allows both you and the dog to adjust and feel confident in your decision.

Finalize the Adoption

If the foster period confirms that this is the right match, we’ll finalize the adoption paperwork so you can officially welcome your new furry family member home!
