Adopt a dog, save a life

At Blue Sky Satos we rescue dogs (satos) off the streets of Puerto Rico and fly them to Colorado to find forever homes. When you adopt, you give a dog a loving home and open space for us to rescue another.

Sato dogs are typically mixed-breed street dogs from Puerto Rico. They are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and gentle hearts.

All dogs and puppies are up to date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and microchipped.

How the adoption process works

1. Find your match

Browse our available dogs and submit an adoption application for the dog you are interested in.

2. Application review

We review applications carefully and typically ask for one or two references.

3. Meet and greet

If it looks like a good fit, we schedule a meet and greet so you and your family can meet the dog in person.

4. Foster to adopt

We often suggest a foster-to-adopt period of 1 to 2 weeks so everyone can adjust and feel confident in the match.

5. Finalize the adoption

If the foster period confirms it is the right match, we complete the paperwork and welcome your new family member home.
