How long is a typical foster?
The length of a foster placement can vary but you can commit to a specific time-frame that fits you! Keep reading!
Puppies are often adopted very quickly, while older dogs may take a little longer to find their forever homes.
Regular, full time fosters (from pup’s arrival to adoption) vary greatly, can be as short as 1–2 weeks, or up to a month
or two. But we had some dogs in foster for as long as 4 months!
But you can choose to foster for a specific time! Often we need SUBSTITUTE FOSTERS, just for a weekend or few days so that our regular foster can travel for few days, go camping, etc.
Can I choose the dog I want to foster?
Absolutely! We share photos and information about the dogs we are working to rescue, and you
can request to foster a specific dog that catches your eye.
Can I foster if I have other dogs or kids?
Yes! Safety is always our top priority, and we ensure every placement is a good fit for your
family. In fact, having children or other pets can help us learn more about how the dog interacts
with different household dynamics, which is valuable information for potential adopters.
What if the dog I’m fostering isn’t doing well in my home?
We are here to support you every step of the way. If any issues arise or if the situation becomes
uncomfortable for you or your family, we will step in immediately to find a better solution for the
dog.
What if I need to travel or step away temporarily while fostering?
Life happens, and we’re prepared for it! We’re constantly building our network of back-up fosters
to provide short-term coverage. Simply let us know, and we’ll coordinate a solution to ensure
your foster dog is cared for while you’re away.
Will I have to pay for the dog’s needs?
No! Our rescue covers all expenses, including food, toys, leashes, treats, and any necessary
medical care. Fostering with us comes at no financial cost to you.
What if I or someone I know wants to adopt my foster dog?
We love when foster families or their loved ones fall for their foster dogs! In most cases, you or
your friend/family member will be approved to adopt the dog, and we’re thrilled to see these
happy endings.
